ABOUT US

CYNALEX PRODUCTIONS was founded in 1998 by husband and wife team Cyn Cañel Rossi and Alexander Rossi. The company's mission is to develop and produce theater and film projects by emerging writers, especially those with a unique cultural voice. Since its inception, CYNALEX THEATER has produced over thirty theater projects and co-founded Songs From Coconut Hill Latino Playwrights Festival, an annual theater festival showcasing new works by Latino playwrights. The festival just completed its 4rd year staging nine new productions. In 2003, the company launched CYNALEX FILM and premiered its first feature film, Rhythm of the Saints, at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival as a Dramatic Competition feature.

CYN CAÑEL ROSSI

Cyn Cañel Rossi is a New York based writer, producer and director of independent film and theater. Cyn’s credits include her debut feature film Rhythm of the Saints, which premiered at The 2003 Sundance International Film Festival in the Dramatic Competition. Among her playwrighting credits are; Homegirls on the Prowl, X&Y Stories, Lali's Song, The Women of Nine and The Undoing of Berta.

Cyn’s plays have been presented at The Kirk Theater as part of the 2006 Intar’s New Works Lab, The Henry Street Settlement Abrons Arts Center, The W.O.W. Café, The Kraine Theater, Teatro La Tea at CSV. Homegirls on the Prowl has been presented at colleges across the country. The Undoing of Berta was recently awarded runner-up by Repetorio Español in its 2006 MetLife Nuestras Voces Playwrighting Competition. She is a member of Intar’s HPRL (Hispanic Playwrights In Residency Lab) and recipient of the 2003 Latina of the Year Award. In 1998, she and partner Alex Rossi founded Cynalex Productions. To date the company has produced over thirty works which led to the founding of Songs From Coconut Hill Latino Playwrights Festival. The annual theater effort showcases new works by both established and up and coming Latino playwrights from across the country. Cyn serves as Artistic Director of the festival.

 

ALEXANDER R. ROSSI

Alexander Rossi, co-founder of Cynalex Productions, has produced many theatrical works over the years and co-founded an annual latino playwrights festival in New York City. He is also the Executive Producer of Rhythm of the Saints, Cynalex's feature film which debuted at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival in the Dramatic Competition.

Alex is is Managing Partner of Latin Idea Ventures, a Mexico-based venture capital fund manager. He received an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business and a BA in Economics and Art History from Williams College.

Alex is also on the Board of The Intar Theater.
